Your site boundary is used to make the plan, then deleted. It is never kept on the server. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking.
Who runs this site
Ground Control Point Planner is run by Michael Opeoluwa, who is responsible for the personal data described here. You can get in touch through the contact page.
Your site files
When you make a plan, the site boundary and any no-go files are sent to the server. They are held in a temporary folder only while the plan is made, then deleted as soon as the plan files are sent back to you. Nothing about your site is kept on the server, and it is never used for anything else.
What stays in your browser
Your current boundary, no-go areas and settings are saved in your own browser, so a reload does not lose your work. Buildings and water found near your site are also kept in your browser for up to 7 days, so they are not fetched again. This stays on your device and is not sent to us. "Start a new plan" on the Download step clears the saved plan, and clearing your browser's site data removes everything.
Visitor logs
Like most websites, the server keeps a short log of requests: the IP address, the time, the page or file asked for and the browser type. It is used only to keep the site secure, stop misuse and fix faults. The logs are kept only as long as those purposes need, then deleted. They are never sold, shared for marketing or used to build a profile of you.
Cookies
The site sets no cookies for tracking or advertising. The service that protects the site from attacks may set a strictly necessary security cookie to tell people from automated traffic.
Who else receives data
Service providers that deliver and protect the site handle requests on our behalf, under contract and only to provide that service. To show the map and find buildings and water, your browser also loads map imagery, place names and map data directly from the map services credited on the map. Like any website, they see your IP address and the area of map being viewed, under their own privacy terms. They do not receive your site files.
Why this is allowed
Site files are used to give you the plan you asked for. Logs and security checks rely on the legitimate interest in keeping the site safe and working.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its use. Use the contact page to ask. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
Changes
If this notice changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
